MY PROCESS for PERSONALIZED COMMISSIONS

My clients love commissions which have personal elements worked into them. Not only do they enjoy seeing a personal piece of art every day, it also becomes an heirloom for future generations bearing witness to their lives.

This is my process:

MEETING YOU AT YOUR HOME

1. As a former interior designer, I want to help you locate the right place for the painting as well as planning for the correct size. I will also make sure that colors and style will work with your current or future interiors.

2. Through an in-depth interview (1 – 2 hours), I will get to know you and everyone who should be integrated in the painting. I’ll send you a questionnaire upfront to prepare for the interview. After the interview, I will have an idea of your personality (-ies) as well as having determined colors and the 2-D elements* provided by you to be worked into the painting.

*These 2-D elements could be vintage or new photos of you, your family, or the pets dear to you. Other 2-D elements could be symbols, formulas, pieces of code, images of hobbies, places, and more.

STUDIO WORK

1. Within 2 weeks you will receive a sketch showing a rough layout of the painting with some color ideas. It could be a black & white drawing and painted color swatches or a loose colored rendering.

2. Upon approval, I start the painting process on a custom ordered cradled wood-panel.

3. You will receive progress photos throughout my painting process. Up to 2 minor revisions are included in the agreed upon price.

Please bear in mind that I am creating a piece of art and for that I have to determine freely what looks and works best for the ultimate best result.

4. You will receive the second to last progress photo prior to sealing/shipping or delivering the art work.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

1. After your decision to work with me and prior to the interview meeting, I asked that you sign a written agreement outlining the work.

Upon receiving signed agreement plus a check for 50%, I will initiate the order of a custom cradled wood panel and schedule our in-home interview.

2. Prior to shipping/delivery, I’ll request the 2nd installment check of 50 % to be mailed to me.
